Ogden Artist Steve Stones at the Eccles Community Art Center

Okay art lovers! We have a holiday treat for you this year at Eccels Community Art Center! Steve Stones has submitted two petite artworks to be displayed at the Eccles Community Art Center’s Inaugural Petite Impressions Exhibit and Competition. An opening reception where awards will be announced will be held on December 4, 2015 from 5-8pm. Eccles community Art Center is located at 2580 Jefferson Ave, in Ogden.

Steve will be having an exhibit through the month of June at Grounds For Coffee, located at 3005 Harrison Boulevard. If you’re looking for something to do, stop in and grab an ice-cold Frap or a piping hot cup of Joe, enjoy some awesome art, and take a stroll through the beautiful grounds. You won’t be sorry!

Steve Stones, along with many other local artists throughout the Salt Lake City area, will be exhibiting several non-representational pieces at  MOD a-go-go through mid February. Come and join the fun by participating in great works, admiring vintage furniture, and supporting the arts at MOD a-go-go’s “Abstract Works Gallery Show” on Friday, January 17 from 6-9pm, located at 242 East South Temple.

Steve Stones Wins First Place for G.O.A.L. Foundation Art Contest

G.O.A.L. Foundation Ogden Marathon Steve Stones Pac Man

Steve Stones’ entry entitled Pac-Man Marathon Runner  took first place for the G.O.A.L. Foundation‘s  art contest, which was held in relation to the upcoming 2014 Ogden Marathon. The winners were awarded various prizes during a luncheon at the new Only In Ogden Store and Gallery, located on Washington Boulevard on November 1. Cara Koomles came away with the coveted Best of Show for her amazing watercolor piece, and won the grand prize of $500.  All contestants have the option of displaying their pieces during the 2014 Ogden Marathon.

With January in full swing, the time for making resolutions for the New Year has passed. While many people are hitting the gym, Steve Stones is preparing works to be shown at the various local opportunities throughout the year.

Stones, who is bringing color to canvas for his 2013 entry of the “Traces of the West Exhibit” and hoping  the Ogden Union Station will host it this year, states “It’s important for me seize upcoming opportunities and plan ahead of time.”

But, “Traces of the West” isn’t the only opportunity on Stones’ mind, “I’ve got that show at Grounds for Coffee in October and the Plein Air in June, which they have before the Ogden Arts Festival. It’s important for artists to contribute to local culture by showing their work and getting it out in front of the art s community for them to enjoy and respond to,” he adds.

Many interested artists ask about entering the Annual Ogden Arts Festival, which is typically held in early June. Artists are encouraged to turn in their applications online through Zapplication until the deadline on March 13.
